1. Overview

Causely ("we", "our", "the app") is a Shopify application that helps merchants understand revenue changes through automated root cause analysis. This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and your rights as a merchant or end customer.

2. Data we access

When you install Causely, we request access to the following Shopify data:

• Orders — to compute revenue, average order value, and refund metrics.
• Products — to identify top products by revenue share.
• Customers — segment-level data (new vs. returning) to support diagnostic analysis. No personal customer data is stored.
• Analytics & Reports — session and conversion funnel data from Shopify Analytics.
• Discounts — to measure promotional impact on revenue.

We do not store individual customer names, emails, addresses, or payment information.

3. How we use your data

Data accessed from your Shopify store is used exclusively to:

• Run revenue diagnostic analyses on demand.
• Generate AI-powered recommendations using anonymized, aggregated metrics.
• Cache analysis results to improve performance and reduce redundant API calls.

We do not sell, share, or use your store data for advertising or third-party profiling.

4. Data storage

Analysis results and aggregated metrics are stored in a secure database hosted on Supabase (EU region). Raw order or customer records are not persisted — only computed metrics used for diagnostics.

Your store's data is retained as long as your account is active. Upon uninstallation, all store data is deleted within 48 hours in compliance with Shopify's GDPR requirements.

5. Third-party services

Causely uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic Claude API — to generate diagnostic summaries and recommendations. Anonymized metrics are sent; no personal data is transmitted.
• Supabase — database hosting.
• Fly.io — application hosting.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are based in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Request access to the data we hold about your store.
• Request deletion of your store's data at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
